Default Repair notch in transome?

Need some advice on how to repair my transome, the pervious owner cut a notch out to allow the use of a short shaft motor... I have attached a couple of photos (the yellow area is the area I need to fill)

I am replacing the motor with a longer shaft motor and need to replace that section, any ideals on how to tie it in so it will be stable?
