I'm guessing that ramp is somewhere up here due to the grade. So many people think they can unhook the cable/strap and roll down to the water without the boat moving beforehand, especially with a roller trailer. I don't understand the thought process either.

Hey Capt. Chuck,

On the first picture I have the score,

truck and boat 0

I always back my Tsunami down the ramp with the transom straps,winch strap,and the safety chain attached.
When I get as close to the water as possible,I then remove the transom straps.back the boat in the rest of the way then, and only then, do I remove the winch strap and safety chain,and let the boat slide off the trailer(roller style).
I hate removing the transom tie downs,as I'm behind that 23' beast that would flatten me like a pancake if it ever came loose.
That's when I double check and ask whoever is backing my truck down. "I did! leave the safety chain and winch strap on didn't I ?"

Over the years we've seen some crazy stuff at ramps.

We saw a guy drop an old twin I/O Stamas right on the concrete when it came off the trailer.Not good,it actually snapped the lower end of the port side drive right off.

We also watched as a guy backed down a very steep ramp only to see his boat,trailer,and Blazer roll right into the water(12' deep) and had the blazer sink to the bottom.The boat was loose from the trailer so it was ok,the trailer was almost like neutral bouyancy from the air in the tires and was kind of half submerged.
It really wasn't funny,but we had to laugh when we saw his styrofoam cup and assorted papers rise up from his window and pop up on the surface.
It happened when he left the Blazer to push the boat in,I guess he left the emergency brake off,and the vehicle in gear.

Years ago in Oswego NY there was a bunch of retired guys who had big score cards like they use for the olympic figure skaters.They would hold them up for everone who launched.
It was hilarious, you'd see these four old men holding up big cards with scores like 8.9 or 4.5 on them.
The boaters with thin skin complained and the city took the benches away so it came to an end.

This was last november at my local ramp.

I launched at the ramp and came back to this.
Low tide and backed in a little too far and dropped of the ramp, trailer was for a smaller pontoon boat. Truck was pulled in by the weight of the water once the bed filled.
