I don't know if there is some way you could mount it a little further away from the battery ?

I originally thought it was an 18 too because of the proportions, but it because of the larger aftermarket console- which is great when you are standing behind it, but not as great when you are trying to move around the boat.

I had the same thought about the filter location next to the batteries and the only reason I left it where it was is because one of my next projects is to move the batteries (there is another one right next to the one you can see in the pic) under the console for better weight balance.

Eventually, it will get a full transom and a bracket- hermco if I can scrape together the cash or a homebuilt copy of strick's if money is tight (isn't it always?)
