Ken, that's because that small 518 Torqueflite tranny has a real low first gear, lower than the one in the bigger 727 Torqueflite used with the big V-8's! The drag racers actually prefer a beefed up 518 because of it's low first gear! My Dakota has the same basic tranny and I have to be real careful with the throttle pulling the boat up a steep ramp to avoid wheel spin!

If my experience and your history with that Ram pickup are any indication, I'd say that old Dart ought to last you at least another 20 years!

Did Kenny ever get his bracket mounting height questions resolved?
