Styrofoam Pool Noodles for Floatation?

It's kind of ghetto, IMHO. Lol. But they might work. Has anyone tried using them?

Just an example:

"The Monster Big Boss Noodles" sound pretty good. Each is rated to float a minimum of 200 lbs. Nine noodles @ $90 equals 1800+ lbs. of floatation. Not bad and no mess, unless they start to deteriorate.

You could put them under your gunnels, would not hurt anything. Think I might do it myself. My SC23 has enough foam under the sole to float 3 boats, but under the gunnels "can" help stop the boat from turning turtle if swamped


I would not put them under deck, bleach/fuel would eat them up and get tiny bits of foam everywhere (might clog bilge pumps)

If you look back at Island Traders 21 restoration, he had put some in between his floor and hull. Although not so Gucci as the $90 models. scroll to the last picture on pg. 13

At the suggestion of other members I put 20-30 in the hull of my 20 footer. I paid $1.50 each at ocean state job lots.

I just checked three local locations and they're out or sent them back because the summer is ovah.
