Windshield calking or sealing on a sceptre

It looks like the windshield sealer is some type of a molded rubber base product. Has anyone ever replaced this and if so were you able to get the same product or did you use some other type of glazing compound. The boat is a 1975 sceptre and the seals don't reach the corners of the windshield frame. I have a leak in the cabin and I think this might be the reason. Thanks in advance for any input......Steve

Should still be available. I'm not positive, but I think the windshield uses the same gasket as the Seafari cabin windows. I got mine here:

Maybe someone who has done their windshield will chime in. Or you can search on "windshield" and the correct molding number will turn up.

Thanks for the info...do your gaskets meet in the corners of the windshield or is there an open space? The gaskets on the windshield that I have stop about an inch before the corners. I don't know if they were designed that way nor if they shrunk over the years.

I got replacement gasket material from American marine also,when I told them the boat that I had they knew exactly which size to sell me and they were very helpful,reasonably priced and they shipped it out quickly

Yup,
As others said,American Marine http://www.americanmarine.com/ made the original windshields for these boats,and can sell you the weatherstrip.I have a 1974 Tsunami 23(aka Sceptre)and bought my weatherstrip from them.I replaced all my glass and the weatherstriping.
I cut all the gasket weatherstrip at 45 degrees where they meet in the corners,and overlapped them a tiny bit.No leaks at all.
American also said that they recommend silicone as a bedding when and if you replace the glass.

Installing the weatherstrip is very easy,I used a couple different size flexible blade putty knives.Round the corners a tiny bit so they don't cut the rubber.
Lay the rubber strip up against the glass and aluminum,and slide the blade under the lip and push the strip in.
You'll know that it's locked in when you see and feel the strip lay flat against the glass.The small lip on the back locks into the channel on the inside of the aluminum frame.
