What was the guy thinking? You could cover it up with a nice lightweight electronics box.

Looks like 2 L brackets constructed of starboard that were built to accept a plate of some type for an electronics box..and the chase is there in the tubing to run wires to a future electronics box. You wont even see the messed up holes on L brackets once plate and box is installed(but YOU will know they are there
