I have a 72 CC with a yamaha 2 stoke 115 on the back. i replaced the original 40 gal under console tank with a new 49 gall under the deck almost all the way forward to the raised casting platfrom and placed a single 27 series battery under the console. I plane at about 13 knts with a top speed of 32 kts and a easy cruise at 4k RPM at 22 knts. all this and i haven't played with the prop. currently it has a 3 blade aluminum 15 pitch which maxes at 5700 RPM trimmed up. i can do 22 knts cruise all day in 2-3 chop and not feel much at all. on nice days i'll run it around 27 knts but unless its flat out which hardly ever happens i see no need to do 30 plus. lets face it, in 3 footers not many similar size or larger CC boats are going over 20 knots. keep her light and you'll never regret it...
