Its really easy to tell, open the boat up and see what its getting for rpm. I know entourage was swinging i believe a 17p stainless prop and RPM range was 4400-4800. If the boat is not getting the bow down quick enough then that means you need a better wholeshot. Go down in pitch, if you are running a 17P go to a 15P. This can make a world of difference. Keep in mind going down in pitch will get you out of the hole quicker but you will lose a little on top end. (most of the time not all)

Yeah John, the old drive (280 Volvo) didn't have any props to pick from really other than the stock aluminum tow boat looking style. I looked all over and couldn't find anything so I ran what I had. It ran out about 37 mph. Didn't overrev and jumped out of the hole so I was happy that way. It was, however, like driving a 79 Chevy pickup without power steering.
I have a 75 or 72 gallon tank, whatever it is. Which might be why I get a little more weight aft.

Its not just the steering the outdrive has alot of play up top where the steering arm is. The drive was never replaced so i think alot of slop was coming from there. You can take the drive with your hand and move it around from the outside of the boat. I should have been more specific.
