Terry's right, that 115 E-TEC is a perfect match for that boat. If you're running in rough water, you won't be able to use more power than that anyway! Ran mine for 31 years including numerous Bahama trips with an old 115 that was really only about 100 HP at the prop, as they were rated at the powerhead back in '75. The new motors are much stronger than the one I was used to, not to mention much smoother and quieter, and burning a lot less gas and oil! Although I have the 150 on a bracket, it's way more power than needed, and the boat will be balanced much better with the lighter 115 on the transom. I was originally planning to go with the 115 but the V-4's weren't yet in production in 2006 when I was ready for a motor, so that's how I ended up with the 150.

Simon, Doug got back to Pinellas Park without any problems. Thanks to you for packing the wheel bearings. He is proud as a peacock and can't wait to go camping in it. Come on a go scalloping with us in July. Just ease south to SR - 50 and drive 'till you run into the Gulf - Doug is like a Scallop Dredge! |
