Do tell....I have seen coffin boxes but you don't see to many plank framed hulls that have that much dead rise and that type of bottom contour, Almost looks like a plank framed seacraft on a slightly different scale minus the steps. Most of these are flat in the back much more. Looks like this one is modeled to have a more constant rise after the entry all the way back. Very nice on the coffin box indeed but love to here more the hull too. Is that douglas fir strips or juniper or something else?

Think this is the build Shine announced a few months back. 25 ft or so...Think he mentioned that lines were inspired by SC but no vdh (although that may be a future design).
Nice CB. What was your thought in making the one and outer skins filled with foam (2 part expanding?) Vs building out of a foam core or even seen roofing insulation. Nice and thanks for the build |

The hull is a custom design for myself. 24 degree deeadrise, 25' (27 to end of brackt) Hull shape from chine down is similar to formula/seavee/whitewater/etc, but it has wider chines and a 6" keel pad. Shearline has a little dip towards the bow, but it similar to SC, and there is tumblehome at the transom. It unique, but of course the styling is inspired by some of my favorite lines.
Structurally, she is a composite sandwich hull. The strips/planks are a core, biaxial skins inside and out set in epoxy. Strips are mostly cedar, with fir on chines and keel. The coffin box is coming along nicely, poured the foam yesterday, will pull all the molds apart Monday and start fairing.

My first drawings had a carolina style topsides with broken sheer and a little more tumblehome. More tumblehome decreased the cockpit width too much though. Form following function, what make a good traditional carolina hull, turns a "gimmicky" IMHO when you go to a 25 open boat. fine entry, flair, warped bottom ending in nearly flat deadrise is what makes a bigger carolina boat work. It would be possible to modify this design to a VDH without too much trouble. I have a ton of pictures, and I am keeping a build thread on other forums, just didnt think it was totally on topic for CSC forum, but I can post some pictures in an off topic thread.
