Green again...tank questions

I cant believe how green I am to boating since buying my SC last fall. This is my 4th boat and I've been doing all repairs over 20 yrs. On my bay boat I've replaced almost all the electrical and many regular repairs, even fiber-glassing the anchor locker which I thought was an big accomplishment.

I've spend much time here trying to understand the terminology in the attempt to grasp what I can actually do verses what I need to pay someone to do. It seems much of the site is for the boat builders or for the seriously skilled. Although I have no regrets buying the boat I agree with the previous owner that my SC is not necessarily a project boat but I cant help but want to dig in to figure out what needs to be done and to make it mine. Anyway,, one of my concerns is fuel capacity because I run 2 strokes.

Can someone tell me if adding a second or larger capacity fuel tank a major project? It currently has a 95gal. Will adding another tank throw off weight distribution? Will it cause the boat to ride differently, will T 130's be enough hp. How much space is beneath the deck for fuel?

Any advice on the subject would very much appreciated and I look forward to contributing here when and if I can.

I put a 118 gal in my 23 running a 250 Yam 2stroke. Considering ~ 2mpg it works for me.

I have a 140 gal under the deck of my Tsunami but I'm not quite sure how it would work on a CC. I would think about how long it will be before you consider repowering before I would worry about adding fuel. New motors are way better on fuel than older 2 strokes and it may be worth considering over ripping the deck out.

Let us know more about your boat: length, configuration, current location of tank, etc. It makes a big difference on what a thoughtful answer might be.

I believe yours is an 85,23.that boat might have had a 136 gallon tank originally,thats what I pulled out of my 85.I replaced it with 112,running a single 250 Yamaha 2 stroke.the old tank went from the fwd casting platform, all the way aft to the big floor hatch.your weight should be fine with twin 2 strokes.

I have an 80 CC with a 136 Gallon tank and FAS is right. It goes from the casting platform all the way back to the Leaning post. No issues with my 250 Ocean Runner 2 Stoke Thirsty Dog !!

The boat 85' 23sfcc. The tank starts approx 50'' from the stern,,the sending unit is under the leaning post. The previous owner also mentioned the possibility of adding a 25 gal. tank in a dead space in front towards the casting platform. I guess that would mean removing the console?

I hear ya Kmoose. I look forward to repowering, I was hoping for a solution to extend my range before biting the bullet.
