Default Doa !

I've got a bad ass road king ! clean, that would be an understatement ! I've been enjoying bike week - riding around - letting the people behold the road king...

took a ride down to new Smyrna beach - go look at another house to purchase,we take the road king...park the bike and go check out the place...get back and we've got the dreaded "click click" - but,we've got enough power to run the fuel injection system - I hear the pump run...bike's fuel injected

push starting a big touring bike, like this one,is no easy feat...especially on a dirt road

push the bike about 1 mile,to the paved road - put the bike in 5th gear, and start shoving, flip the ignition and let the clutch fly - took 2 tries, but we got it !

gotta remember,i know 2 people down here - that's it ! this coulda been ugly !

we make it back home...check out the problem - 'cause i'm a diagnosing gentleman - NOT a parts hanger...check stator output - it's 20V AC @ idle...interesting...perhaps it's a bad regulator ?? let's check that stator for shorting to ground first, shall we ? OH NO ! stator is shorted....

well....

best approach - replace the charging system: new voltage regulator, stator and rotor - along with a change of the primary drive oil and new gaskets...and you guys think outboard parts are expensive...I purchase and use ONLY Harley Davidson parts on the bike - I treat that aftermarket crap just like kryptonite...

bike week is over for me....and i'm not happy about that...

too much wind to fish !

I DO NOT drink - no big ol' beer gut on me !

gonna put the bike on the stand and perform a little surgery - not only do I have a bad ass road king,i gotta bad ass set of tools, and shop equipment to kill for !

Well, up hill dirt road ??.... That only leaves Volco Rd. & and a few off Cow Creek Rd. in Edgewater or Oak Hill (AKA "Down Hill")

My buddies made fun of me for buying property in "Down Hill"
till they came here and saw it !! Bang bang, welcome to the jungle !!

Actually I live in Creighton, FL. Old train station from the turn of
the century... Found arrow head when clearing property!

Thats right they were here first ...

down by art center road - it was a bank owned house - lots of potential !!
older gentleman came over to me,while I was pushing the bike - asked me if we were ok...told me "you look like you're in good shape,a good work out won't hurt you"
my lady friend was having a good laugh at me - I was saying "i'd rather push my Harley, than ride a rice burner"...she asked me what we were gonna do,if it wouldn't start ...we'll cross that bridge when we get to it,was my reply...

earlier this week - I was @ the no name bar - great crowd sir ! midget wrestling ! "half the size twice the violence":that was on their shirts...not a lot of dentists in that town,is there ? it was culture shock for my lady friend - she's from the city "concrete jungle" is what I call it...she was taking pictures - a lot cole slaw wrestling over @ the cabbage patch, and the fat women who were wearing just body paint wasn't a pretty sight - think it put her "over the edge"....broken spoke was pretty calm...same at the iron horse

another highlight was "hamburger Mary's" - they have female impersenators ! we were walking by and seen a man, dressed like a woman performing on stage ! had to go in,just to see..."one half of the population just doesn't know how the other lives"....

one of the funniest things I seen: a guy over beachside - corner of atlantic and ISB he had a sign that read " why lie - I need beer" I gave him a $5 bill ! he was making a killing there !

can't imagine the amount of money for this area, bike week brings in ! every town from saint Augustine south to new smryna beach was and still is loaded...traffic is a little challenging...

gonna tear the road king apart tomorrow...20k on the clock - first time I had a problem with it - not too bad...

20k and that's not too bad? I don't get the Harley thing. Bunch of guys at work spend big bucks on new ones every 3 or 4 years to keep them in warranty due to a plethora of issues. Seems like they were more reliable when they just leaked oil. One hell of a marketing and customer retention program though. I would love to sell them.

buddy of mine, when I had my shop in jersey - his shop was down from mine.he had a motorcycle shop. bikes aren't for everyone - but, they're a lot more fun than trying to remove a corroded Suzuki lower unit.it's much easier working on an HD than boats.

that road king I have,it's never had a problem before - no oil leaks,no anything - that's pretty good

down side to this:

that model motor - the rotor won't come out of the case - it's too big.the inner primary case needs to be taken off - it's not a bad job - couple hours and it's running again

it's currently apart in the garage - waiting on me...it's dinner time...

what's funny is : bikes, just like boats - if you don't know what you're doing,it's best to leave it alone - mistakes are costly and cause huge problems with other pieces
attention to detail

Kmoose on motorcycles 20k to 30k miles is typically thought to be equivalent to 100k miles on a automobile. I owned everything from a Kawasaki KZ650 to my last bike which was 2003 yamaha R1. Once we started having kids decided it was time to get out. I once had a dead cell at a burger King on merritt island and we lived in orlando, too far to push home
