I have that exact trailer, a 1979 era.......67" axles. I think it is original to my 79 Sceptre. It's quite narrow and gets sway when it's not tied down. I actually had to add 120 lbs of playground sand sealed in PVC pipes strapped to the frame to get the trailer to sink at the ramp. Now it's perfect, but what a PIA when I first got it.

Good idea! I had the same problem. I fixed it with wrapping some galv chain around the base of the uprights. Not a pretty as your solution, but it still works.
