I have been restoring a 78 Sceptre for the past 9 months and am at the point of powering her up! She literally sat covered in a barn in Jupiter FL for 15 hears with an all dry fuel tank. She is turning out amazing! The boat had 1985 Yamaha 150s but I am hoping to go with a new Suzuki 300. I would be interested in hearing thoughts on this consideration

I currently have a 300 apx on my Tsunami and am more than thrilled with it. My previous engine was a df 250 and that was more than ample power. The difference between the two is "I could never use more power than the this" with the 250 to "Holy Sh*t!!!" with the 300. Without pics I don't know what you working with as far as mounting but in both of my installations I went with a 30" motor hooked to a 10" adjustable bracket. I really like keeping the powerhead out of the water and the bracket gives you the ability make adjustments in height as well a putting the prop back into some cleaner water.

Eric-Congrats on the barn find........ I am from Tequesta and trailer my 79 Sceptre with a new Zuke 300 AP over there a few times a year. Your welcome to check out mine in the next few months. I have the motor mounted on the transom on the highest hole. I'm at 50 right above 6000 rpms.
