Yikes! Max out the prop. Keep us posted on #'s. Hull was rated for an old school (light weight) 150hp two stroke.

You won't be able to realize how good the hull is when the only thing in the water is the prop. Good luck and enjoy

Better move EVERYTHING forward, (unless it weighs the same as the 140)! I have a DF140 and it's too heavy, but manageable.

my Yamaha 2 stroke 150 did ok for 16 years. The 175 weighs 60 lbs heavier. I know its a stretch, just have to be on guard and use common since.

i'm on my 2nd 18, the first had a 200, later replaced it with a yamaha 130, present boat has a merc 125.
the 200 was a beast. boat would chine walk and make for 'wet feet fishing'. always had plugs in and had to be extra vigilante at dock. the yammy was perfect at dock, as is the merc 125.

as others have said, these boats do not need the extra hp. be careful out there

Are your scuppers under water with the weight of the 175 Suzuki or did you raise the deck ? I was playing with the idea of putting a 115 Etech on my 18' till I found out what they weigh. I'm running a 1998 C115 Yamaha at 330lbs and I wouldn't feel too comfortable hanging anything much heavier on there.

The bilge access in the 18 is terrible. With a heavy motor you can forget about getting to the bilge in any kind of chop. You'll also need a permanent watertight splashgate to keep water out of the floor baitwell.
