I was told in ye olden days it was because of the shape of an arm.
Upper arm
lower arm

They don`t call mid cape an elbow, so who knows.

Maybe it's the Inner and Outer Cape? No freaking clue.

We lived Mid Cape.
Confused yet?

They are very crusty about all of that.
One of the things I love most about the Cape.
