After a lot of input from everyone I went ahead with my re-power - puting in a crusader 5.7 captains choice. Also doing some deck work up front, replacing fuel, steering lines, pumps, rebuilding transmission etc. Mechanic is a great guy - good wrench - couldn’t be happier. Below are some pics of work being done and some before and after of the bilge and tanks being cleaned.

Congrats on the repower. I'll be watching this thread very closely, very curious as to what you'll get for performance numbers with the new engine.
I currently have what I believe to be a 2004 5.7 Crusader 350 EFI (throttle body). Pushes my 23 WOT to 30 knots. I cruise all day around 18 knots. The engine you are putting in should have around 320-330 HP though. I think mine is only rated for 270 HP. I think when the times comes, I'll consider another Marine Power (just put two in the Luhrs two years ago) or another Crusader. Maybe diesel if I feel like dropping 40k on a repower..... Good luck on the project! What shop is doing the work? |

Front deck is done - engine is out - new engine came in this week - transmission being rebuilt - all new bilge pumps - 1/2” fuel lines in - new steering lines in - everything cleaned up and ready for the engine. Next piece of the puzzle is replacing canvas on T-Top with a skin of fiberglass, also replacing both axles on the trailer. Some pics of the old engine included.

Engine is in, few more details and she will be ready for a sea trial! Just need the weather up here to cooperate! Been a bad stretch - Lots of beach erosion.

Jon Ohman owner of Liams on Nausset Beach is a customer and a good friend of mine. They figured they had 3-5 years before the beach washed away and swallowed his building. It took 2 storms to accomplish what was supposed to take a years.

![]() Kinda does seem that way. I remember as a little kid there being big storms, and some erosion and the Nauset Light stairs washing away every few years, but the last ten years it does seem much more extreme. I mean just look at Ballston Beach in Truro. It washed over in 91 during the perfect storm and not again until about five years ago, Now it washes over every winter.
