Default Forget my rebuild-maintenance?

So, its been a little rough around here and while the boat can handle it, I can't. Yesterday, NWS was calling for 2-3 with light winds. I've been wanting to get out and try for some Dolphin (no "mahi" here) so it was the day to try. I usually can manage to get up in the boat by the trailer fenders and have my friend back the trailer, but I haven't put them on yet and i decided to just hold on to the rope at the bow. Good thing I was able to get a little forward motion to the boat before the rope came undone. Thought for a moment I would have to go swimming.
Started the soon to be 14 year old motor and tried powering up the 20 year old gps. Nothing but an intro scene and then shuts off. Tried it for a half dozen more tries and no go. So I asked my friend if he was up for it, my compass still worked. I used to go out all the time, before I got Loran and then gps. So the plan was to head east and look for a place to start trolling and then try to keep track of how far we went north or south.
We went a long ways, until finally reaching the stream. We put lines out and about 15 minutes later, put a not large, but descent fish in the box and I tried the gps one more time. Bingo, 24 miles back at 277 degrees, ok. Caught one more and since both of us were tired of taking weeds off we decided to drift some dead bait (would of loved some livies) .
While drifting and resting my back laying on the front deck,I noticed that there was stuff growing under the gunwales, so today I got out there at sun up and did some cleaning. Now I guess I will go clean some fish.
