It's with a stick pressed up to the keel running out past the bracket, then measured straight down to the stick.....to the center of the top mounting holes....to get the 29 1/2" number. In most cases the top mounting holes are 2' below the top of the bracket/transom. So...the mounting holes are actually 23" from the keel on a normal 25" SeaCraft transom. We added the 2" per 12" setback with the mounting holes not top of bracket.
