FWIW here is the capacity sticker for my '76 Seafari in case someone wants to duplicate it. It is located under the helm. It reads:
Max HP 175
Max weight capacity in persons 900 lbs
Max weight capacity persons, motor and gear 1162 lbs

Guessing my Merc 150 tower of power weighed about 300#, bet we frequently exceeded 1162#, with the skis, coolers, gear, etc. Not to mention those boats loaded up for multiday trips. My current ETEC 150 is 418#.
