I know, that's why I jumped on it! If there were two, I would have bought both. Already sold my old one for a few bucks more than I paid for this one so a real win in my book!

One step forward, two steps back - The mechanic took a good look at the E-Tec and said I am better off finding another motor
![]() It has good compression but the fuel system is messed up from sitting, there is an exhaust leak at the base probably due to a bad trim & tilt assembly, the lower unit had water in it, and there were multiple overheats when he scanned it. It has about 1100 hours on it. Guess I will list it for sale as a parts motor and hopefully get my money back out of it. |

What about an older Yamaha F115? Found one with low hours (400) with good compression for a pretty good price. Is this strong enough given the extra weight of a 4-stroke?

Yeah, I hear that. Think I am going to keep looking. Found several Suzuki DF140s in my price range on FB marketplace and elsewhere. Going to take a look at some of those this week I think.

Did not want to let the motor situation get me down so I did a little work on her today.
Did some more sanding and the put a couple of nice full coats of primer on her to help reveal any spots that need some attention still. Based on what I am seeing, I should have it ready for paint in a day or two now. I would say it might be ready later today but the weather does not look conducive to keeping at it today. Happy with today's progress. |
