I've heard of floating aluminum trailers before, How long were your bunks?

These bunks will be 6'.

Just looked up the weight.

Freshly Treated Pine is about 73lb per board foot, Cypress is about 50, and Juniper about 42, for non kiln dried wood.

I think I'll go with treated yellow pine.

Just FYI -- I had BIG (4"x12"x8') cypress bunks on an aluminum trailer years ago, it floated (when the wood was dry) and was a PITA to retrieve my boat. Aluminum wheels didn't help either.
