BUMP'ing this old thread, as I finally have an upholsterer coming by this afternoon...
Both my seat shells need repair, so I'm up in the air whether to R&R prior to recovering, search for original replacement SeaCraft shells in better condition (anyone have a set hoarded away?), or replace with new helm chairs (an upholster rest to match)... |

I repaired mine, take an oscillating saw and cut around the edges. Maybe a grinder too on the straighter parts.
Make a template out of cardboard. Cut up some 1/2” plywood. Put some resin and maybe a layer or 2 of fabric. Then your plywood. Then a couple layers over that. If need be fair it out. Prime and paint and you’re set. I’ll see if I have pics anywhere. |
