If the transom is wood and original, that's a bit heavy. (I would guess there's some water in it). I replaced the transom and deck with a Coosa equivalent to reduce weight and hung a 397 lb. Zuki and she sits in the water just like she did new with a 300 lb. 2-stroke. I don't know about the performance of those motors.

I’d be looking at it like that too……. Do you know if the 18 ever got a full height sealed splashwell? That may add a little security on a mooring.
