Default What year is it?

What is the best way to find out the year of my Seacraft. I just got it last week, I have no paperwork or any thing else. Is ther an easy way to tell? Would a picture help?

Lurch....Welcome!!

Have you looked for the hull ID #?? Its on the starboard side of the transom right under the rub rail embossed in the fiberglass.

What about on your title ... you didn't get one ??... you'll need proof of ownership to register the boat

It will start with SECF and a few numbers specific to your hull. The last two numbers are the year it was manufactured. Some boats (very early) are without and if major FG work has been done to the transom they may have been "wiped" off the hull..... Do a search for the HID numbers ....there have been a few questions about them.

The number may not necessarily start with SECF, as detailed in a response I had to a similar question some time back. However, the last two digits should readily tell you what year the boat was made.

"number may not necessarily start with SECF"

Mark ... Isn't that only the case if the boat is pre 1972 (HIN required after that date) OR if the boat was repaired and the HIN was destroyed due to FG work, theft, damage hence a state assigned HIN??
