Default Seacraft boat size

I have been looking at buying a Seacraft boat for some time. I am curious though, about the lengths of the boats I am finding. I thought Seacraft built boats in lengths of 18,20,23,25, and 27. I am only looking to buy a Potter or an early CSY. Why is it that I only see boats of 20 and 23 for sale....

Maek - the 20 & 23 were by far the most common, especially the center consoles. The 18 was introduced later in the 70s as was the 25 and 27. But the 20 & 23 were really the most popular.

Now, I only wish they had made a true 22 footer, I've felt the more and more I've looked at them that the 20 - at 19 and some change - would be to small for me and that the 23 - at 23 and a half - is a tick or two bigger than I wanted (but still very nice )... A true 22 foot Seacraft would have been a fantastic intermediate size for Seacraft...

Hey Trayder! There is a boat manufacturing business in Bristol area for sale - whaddya think? Build the 22 that never was?

Probably 20 and 23 had the most hulls built. I know there weren't many 18s ever sold/built (would love to know the actual figure). I've also been told -- and having an 18' believe -- that folks tend to hang on to their 18'. Those 'in the know' view it as one of the best small boats ever built. 'Course, I'm biased just a bit... Maek-The 18' is one heck of a ride. Very tough boat. I will keep it when I buy the 23' one day.

I talked to a SeaCraft salesman at Outdoor World about 30 days ago that SeaCraft and Mako were going to move their production of new boats to the Carolina’s and they were going to build a new 27 footer. He couldn’t tell me much more that the length but that would be interesting to see if they do it or not. If the stretched the 25’ SeaCraft that would be a 8’6” beam boat or if the shrunk the 32’ that would be a 9’6” beam boat.

I heard they were moving production to Charlotte, NC. I am not sure of this though. I have a friend that is looking at the 32' with twin 250 HPDI's and the salesman told him that. I am hoping he gets it for those days when it is a little to rough for my 23'.

As far as a compromise between the 20 and 23, there IS the new 21 if you don't mind a boat that looks like a 23 with two feet hacked off the back end. The ride is GREAT but the appearance can be a bit much for a person like myself who is particular about that sort of thing/

Mark - even the new 21 is only 20'5" ... Nah - they need a real 22 footer - then and now. Split the difference between the two boats...

I have a 21 ft (2000 model) and the ride is terrific- I looked for an 18 ft for years in NJ and only 2 came on the market- the first sold as soon as the ad hit the newspaper and I was too late, the second appeared about one week after I bought my 21! I also heard that SeaCraft was moving out of Fla to the Carolinas- I would love to see them resume production of the 18 ft. model as well as correct their horrible dealer network and advertising campaigns- see ya
