Default Scupper r/r on 23' Tsunami

I recently have had the chance to see the pcs. of wood that are sandwiched between the scupper and the floor... Bitchy spot ! The wood seems OK... I will be replacing the brass tubes, and while I am there I would like to drill-out the wood a bit, fill w/ epoxy, cure and then re-drill for new tube. Questions:

Any advantage to making the scupper holes larger now ?

How about not replacing the tubes at all and just leaving it epoxy ?

And, if I do go back w/ tubes - s.s. or copper ?

WHEN I DID MY DECK AND TRANSOM I REPLACED THOSE BLOCKS OF WOOD. THEY WERE WATER LOGGED AND SHOT. I DON’T KNOW ANY EASY WAY TO EASILY REPAIR THEM. THE BLOCKS ARE ABOUT 3” X 3” AND ABOUT 6 “ LONG. IF YOU DRILL THEM OUT TO ABOUT 1 & ½” AND THEY DON’T FALL APART YOU COULD THEN FILL IN AND THEY RE DRILL A STANDARD HULL. IF THEY DO FALL APART I WOULD FILL IN AND RE ROUTE THROUGH THE TRANSOM.

FS,

Mine are in perfect shape. I am playing w/ the idea of re-routing them thru the transom. We'll see. Once the transom is done, I do not want to ever have to worry about them.

I do have a question, though. Right near the scupper tube and aft of the 3"x 3" block is a fiberglassed, rectangular 'box' of some sort. It's roughly 6"x3"x 1-2"(high). It's most aft part butts up against the transom. What is this ? Is it part of the scupper ?

Oh, and lastly, if I keep the scupper where it presently is - good or bad idea to enlarge it ?

Thx,

Alan
