Default Re: proper dual battery operation

The purpose of 2 batteries it to always have a back up just incase one goes bad you just have to turn the switch to # 2 or both. Most guys will have a starting battery and the other for electronics in that way when you start the motor the electronics would go out or possibly blow a fuse. If I am making a long run I will on occasion use both batteries to help put some extra juice in both of them, but as a rule I use only one for the motor and the other for electronics. I also will charge the batteries at home after 2 or 3 trips just to keep both fully charged.

Well I thought it would help. Looks like you will need to go the the battery wiring diragram if you need that type of info.

Default proper dual battery operation

I have a dual battery setup on my other boat. Its an I/O . Whenever i run the boat out of habit i run it on battery 1 or 2. Someone this past week told me that you "Shouldn't" run the boat on both simultaneously cause it won't charge them correctly. Have I been doing it right all the time or are they wrong ????
