I did mine like this. My boat's a lil filthy right now, please excuse it. It works very well and is easy to install. I have a larger piece that slides down to make the splash well taller, with a finger hole so I can remove it. I rarely ever use the top though. The boat is a 1977 18'6 SF by the way. I just recently made this out of starboard. The only way the boat will drain is thru the splash well so i had to cut holes in the bottom and put plugs in it. I just pull the plugs when i want to rinse it or there is some water from the cooler. I was going to put drains in the floor before the splashwell but was not enough room under the floor.Tested it the other day and works great. Still some modifications need to be done but thats it for the most part. Im going to cut it in half so i can take out the top part of it. I also made the doors on either side of the splash well out of starboard. Ive been replacing all the wood with starboard and is easy to work with. I know some of you guys like the wood look in these classic SeaCrafts but i use this boat to much to have it out of service while the wood gets redone every cpl of years(or prob. sooner). here is a link to some of the other pics of the boat. Its a 1975 18'

I do not see any hardware in the picture containing the slide bolt which the bolt slides into. Did you just drill a hole into the sides of the rear hatch wells and reinforce the hole in some fashion? If so, I like the idea and will attempt to do the same. Dink

No hardware on the door. It just slides in to a slot between the Starboard front pieces and those back side pieces. That's what it looks like to me. It looks nice. i would have added a finger pull slot at the top to make it easy to grab a hold of.

Warthog
The second picture showing the engine side appears to have what looks like s slide or barrel bolt. Anyway, I've found both a brass and plastic insert that I will epoxy into the splash well sides and insert the barrel bolt into. I'll coat the brass insert with Signature finish urathane. It should blend in well. Dink
