If you don't have a check valve on the tank . . . then your vent (on the TANK) is blocked.
Usually if you vent is blocked or clogged you will not be able to fill the tank the vapors will back flow out the fill and kick off the safty on the pump handle.

Young1 - What do you want a yacht for? and why did you go though the trouble to have the tank cleaned, pressure tested and then put back into your boat . . . if you were just going to buy a new one. If the problem is wasps in your vent hose . . . a new gas tank isn't going to solve your problem.

When I got my boat I could hardly get gas into the tank the vent screen was so corroded-it would back right up the fill. The funny thing, though, was that it didn't seem to affect the motor's performance . Sounds like that anti-siphon is jamming up.

usually less than 50% of what you spend on it.
