thanks everyone i had the boat out again yesterday and we had solid three footers maybe four at times and the boat ate em up like cotton candy...performance numbers- cruise speed is about 26 knots at 4700 rpm...wot- upper 30 knots the motor gets about 5.5 mpg at crusie speed (also depends on water conditions) ....did find a little problem with the boat tho.....believe i have a small leak somewhere...anyone have any experience with how to find it? i was going to take console and tilt it to side remove coffin lid and back the boat down in the water but leave it hooked to trailer and get down underneath with a flashlight and see if i can find it...??? any help would be great

It may be your brass scupper tubes if you have the Potter type that go straight down thru the bottom. Take a look at the flare where it goes through the bottom; the brass flare corrodes over time and pieces of the flare break off so they're no longer water tight. Gillie and I both did some posts several years ago on how to replace those tubes. Denny

the only thing on the boat that is through hull is my fish box drain...but i do also have a bildge that is hooked in order to serve as a raw water washdown or to pump water to a livewell....as for scupper tubes? i do not believe i have them..my scuppers are just two holes in the back where the transom was raised...no tubes go to them at all if that is what you were reffereing too...newbie here i def could be wrong

evknot0127, if you've got those "two holes in the back", there is a brass tube that seals off the space between the deck and the hull. Follow bushwackers advice.
I'm still chasing a leak in my boat, after having the scuppers (all 3: fish box, 2 deck) replaced (sloppily.) I suspect one of the scuppers just isn't sealing against the hull.

Did a little experimenting around myself and then ended up calling a guy up this way who is my Buddy who completely redid his boat but he has a seacraft but a 23 ft an he said he was 99% sure it was my through hull fish box drain... So he told me what to do and I'll be damn if he wasn't right... Can I put a plug in the bottom of the hull where the drain is because I don't use that as a fishbox anyways...???

If it's a through-hull fitting, as opposed to a flared brass sleeve, it's pretty east to seal. Pull it out, coat the threads and flange liberally with 3M 5200, slip it through and do the same with the threads and nut on the inside.

If you seal the through-hull, you may regret it later when you've got water in the box and no way to drain it.
