Not sure about the 18's, but the deck in my 23 is a sandwich laminate of end grain balsa between fiberglass. 1/2 inch plywood was used in the area where the console screws are.

Paul,
According to the '79 specifications sheet, the 18' came standard with a fuel capacity of 47 useable gallons, so I'm not sure what the full capacity of the tank is. Perhaps 50? The spec sheet doesn't mention an optional tank size. If you'd like, I can scan a copy and email it to you.

Welcome to CS by the way.

Scott

I had a 1976/77 SeaCraft 18, and the floors were rock hard in all areas. A soft floor would be something that I could not cope with. Either get it fixed or enjoy the spongy ride I guess.

No, it is NOT characteristic of the boat. And Yes, there IS wood in the floor.

Default New SeaCraft owner

Just bought a '79 18 footer. I bought it from the original owner and the boat has not been in the water for several years. Two years ago he decided to get it ready to sell and had 70 West Marina in Morehead City go through the boat and motor to fix any problems. There were only a few minor items to be fixed. I have read some messages about the floors being replaced. The floor on both sides of the boat near the stern is flexible. The places are symetrical on both sides and it doesnt sound like there is wood rot underneath. I dont know if the there is even wood in the floors of these boats. Any one got any ideas or is this a characteristic of the boat. The seller (whom I know is being honest) told me thought it has always been like that. Anyone got any ideas or info on this. I took it out today on the lake for a test run and it did real well. The seller told me that if I wasnt completely satisfied, he would refund my money. I did have some water come in and understand all of the bilge and water comments. The boat is is really great shape and is alot more boat that the Boston Whaler Montauk I just sold to buy this one. Oh yeah, were there fuel tank options for this boat? He thought it was a 55 gal. the only specs I have found show a 30 gal tank. Anyway I would appreciate any feeback or comments. Thanks
