Default Bracket for 20' Master Angler

I've bought a 1978 20' Master Angler w/ a questionable transom. I am planning on doing a full reconstruction with this boat. I'm considering a bracket to mount a 25" 150 or 175 hp motor. I would like to have a full transom to increase cocpit space. My concerns are changes in center of gravity & handleing. Are there any idea's or experiances out there that could help me.

Billy,
I have a 79'20 master angler that had a bracket when I bought it.In my experence with this boat the motor always was to low even in the top holes and was always a performance problem ,not to mention unnerving when a following sea swallows your entire cowling!I removed the bracket re cut the transom and could not be happier for doing so.I was told a reputable boat yard had redone the whole boat bracket, sprayrails, paint, new t top, etc.and I love it all except the bracket.this is just my experence with one hull so I am sure it can be done but be cautious.......

Billy,

I tried twice to respond to your direct email but your account is full and kept rejecting my messages.

Anyway, I am not going the bracket route for several reasons. I won't bore you with the details but suffice it to say, I can't add any handling or center-of-gravity (balance) analogies to the thread.

Good luck if you go that route, I'm happy with the notch in the 20'.
