Default Shipping a gas tank from Florida

I'm getting desperate! I need to replace the fuel tank in my 84 wellcraft V20. The only tank that I can find to fit is in Florida at Marine Connection Liquidators. I need to get it to Boston. They will only ship by UPS and the tank is too big for UPS. Fedex want more than the cost of the tank to ship. Does anyone have a suggestion? I got a big hole where the tank used to be and I need to fill it.

Thanks

Repirts,
I air freighted a cedar chest from JFK to Mia it wasn't that bad if I remember correctly it was under 100.BIG & Heavy.?? UPS would not ship it either.Lot of cargo co. especially down here.
Have the dimensions & weight when You call them,It will have to be crated,Maybe Boxed?

I just had a new motor brought up by a boat hauler. There are alot of boats heading north on the back of trucks this time of year. Most have a lot of xtra space. Try this number 508-801-0337 Gene Bradstreet he was down in the keys at noon today . He is home based out of Sandwich MA. I would try him tonight before he heads north.

You need to get a hold of someone that does a lot of freight shipping and see if they can help you. My brother is in charge of shipping for his company and it's still a pain.
Don just shipped out my Seamark bracket and that cost $179 to my door or $85 to the terminal and that is a pretty big box and weighs 200lbs.
Good luck.

I had an aluminum tank custom manufactured by Atlantic Coastal Welding, I believe they are in N.J. Total turn around time was about a week after I gave them the specs from my old tank. Not sure how much your tank may hold, but this was a 48 gallon tank and I paid about $400 with shipping to S.C. as I recall.

Striper, errr Repirts - check with all of the ground haulers, Roadway, GOD... I can't think they would turn away any freight companies. What are the dimensions on the tank?

Also, follow this Google link and check the link ads on the right side of the page: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&i...ipping+company

Ok, I'm too impatient to wait> So, bought a smaller tank (40 gal) locally and I'll install it Saturday. It will fit and if it proves too small for my needs, I'll find an excuse to go pick up the one in Fla. I'll probably be ok with the 40 gals because most of my fishing will be in Boston Habba and vicinity.

Thanks everyone for your help.

Now about my wiring!! But that's a mess for another time.

Capt Brad-

Believe it or not, the surfing in Boston (from September through March) is actually pretty good. With all the NorEasters, Hurricanes and other low pressure systems....we get a lot of good waves. If you can handle the cold water it is a lot of fun.
