Default help making decision on buying boat

I am considering buying a 1979 20' seacraft, potter hull, center console. Thia boat has been completely redone with all new stringers and everything. It is immaculate. It has all the electronics, hydraulic steering, cd, gps, the works. It has a 225 Mariner that was put in in 1997. I was hoping someone out there would give me their opinion on whether or not i should buy this boat. The asking price is $13,000. This boat looks new and rides real well.

If you follow a few other recent posts on here about people asking closer to $20K for a similar setup, I would suspect that if you don't buy it, someone else certainly will very soon. That price tag is not out of line for what you list.

You mention new stringers, when you rode in it, was the floor high enough so that you and another person could stand in the stern area without water coming in? If so, I'd probably ink the check.

CeBe-

I had a '97 225hp Mariner efi on my 23SC when I bought it, and it was a real bad experience. I bought it with 850hrs on it, so maybe it was my own fault, but, man... whenever I see someone post about a 97 Mariner I get the chills.

If you want my experiences, I will be glad to tell you about them. The guys know here i have done my fair share of crying on this site already so I won't bore anyone with the grim details again! Drop me an email at gordon.gibbons@comcast.net and I will tell you all about it.

The rest of the rig sounds good tho, and the price is right too. I ended up putting a '03 Evinrude 225 on it and it has been a great move.
