Is the 32 SeaCraft doomed?

I wonder how many SC32's are selling. I see a ton of Contenders, Regulators, Pursuits, Donzi's and GW's on the water but rarely a 32 sc? There isn't even one person on this board that has ever talked about trading up to a 32 let alone riding in one? What did Brunswick do wrong with this boat?
I noticed that Jose Wajebe from the tv show the"spanish fly" uses a 32 and he added spray rails. Perhaps the 32 is a wet boat. Opinions welcome.

I AGREE THAT THERE ARE A LOT MORE CONTENDERS, DONZIS, ETC. IN FACT THE LOCAL SEACRAFT/KENNER DEALER JUST BOUGHT THE LOCAL CONTENDER/PATHFINDER DEALER. MAYBE IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH TRACKER'S INSISTANCE TO RIG SEACRAFT AND KENNER BOATS WITH MERCS. I KNOW SEVERAL PEOPLE WHO WANT TO BUY A KENNER BUT WILL NOT BE FORCED TO BUY A MERC. MAYBE THIS APPLIES TO THE SEACRAFTS AS WELL.

I really don’t know of any reasons why they aren’t selling as much as some of the other boats you mentioned. I never have ridden in one but I sure have looked at a lot of them at Outdoor World. If I was in the market for a 32’ CC I would check out the ride but for me when you get into boats that size I want more that just a CC design.

During my off months from school I fish the keyes as much as a can. I dont always have the desire to tow my boat down there, and because I have really good friend that lives down there and has a 32 among a few other boats. It has a full tower, motor shrowd, coffin box with hydralic arm to get to the storage underneath, etc, etc. All the bells and whistles. I have notice that it is the wettest boat ever, on a light chop day (under 4) I get wet in the tower. It is the wetest boat that I have been on, I have to where foul weather gear when it is not that rough out just to stay dry. A few undesirable building flaws that I found in it, is that you have to unscrew about ten screws just to get to where the batteries are located. Not something I want to deal with. Other problems that I have with it is that it has gel coat cracks all over the place and it is only two years old. I have noticed that the other 32's on the showroom floor are starting to gel coat crack with less then 30 hrs on them. iF SEACRAFT could fix the wettness problem and spider cracks, it would be the baddest boat on the market.

When they first came out I was curious and took a test ride on one with twin 250 yamis. It was a relative calm day so I didn't experience any spray but at WOT it was like my 23' on steroids [img]images/icons/tongue.gif[/img]

The layout, features & functionality sucked [img]images/icons/mad.gif[/img] and I've said it before "I don't like going to Sea with something on board called a
"Coffin Box" [img]images/icons/shocked.gif[/img]

If I ever choose to move up to those go fast boats I'll take a "Legend 34" The closest ride and durabilty to Seacraft I have seen. (Their built buy an X-Seacraft Owner)

I've checked out the 32 at the Boston boat show each winter, and from my perspective, the quality is not so great. As Capt Chuck mentions, the layout is no good and the quality of components is terrible. Each time I climb on the 32 at the boat show (once a year), the latch pulls are broken, things are cracked, gel coat finish on the liner isn't that good, etc. SC just can't play with Contender, Regulator, Yellowfin, et al in this ball park.

Substandard quality + wet ride + $140K = no/low sales.

I have been on a 32' once with twin mercs, and I can think of 4 boats that cost less that are better engineered and built. The Palmetto 32 is alot less money, and an great boat. Contender and yellowfin make great boats too. I think all the boat manufactures are going to have to respond to customer wishes in selection of motor manufactures. I doubt they will be making them in 5 years.

Not to jump off tthe topic, because I agree with you all the 32 looks great but thats about it. I heard that there is a 28 seacraft coming out next year. Anyone know if this is true?

I think that someone missed the opportunity to be a well respected semi custom boat builder with SeaCraft before Tracker Got ahold of them. Tracker just has too many irons in the fire to give Brand name SeaCraft the R & D attention it needs to compete today. They quickly popped out that 32 because everyone else was selling them like mad. Now they've got a boat with inadequate R&D. You just can't afford to build a bad boat Nowadays. With the internet the buyers are educated and bad news travels fast. Start over and do it right Tracker.
