Any idea what it might be worth?
Hi I have been a member since August of this year. I bought a 1979 SC20 in the sring of 2001. I used it all the first year and decided to re-do the boat last winter. I spent all winter and some of this past summer re-doing the boat. I stripped the boat bare. With the help of a friend who is a marine mechanic I had the boat re-plumbed and wired and installed dual batteries under the center console. Dried the transom by drilling holes in the core according to the WEST System manual and filled the holes with WEST System epoxy (No rot just wet). The liner, and center console were painted with white Imron and the hull in marine blue Imron. A teak steering console and new teak rod holders were installed. A leaning post, new seat cusions new stainless hardware, Color GPS, compass, VHF, Fish/depth finder, stereo and courtesy lights were insatlled as well. I still have the 1990 Johnson I bought with the boat hanging on the transom but I also have a 1998 Suzuki 140 I have been contemplating. You can view photos at www.msnusers.com/seacraft click on photos. Any body have an idea of value. I had so much fun building this boat I am thinking about selling her and doing another. Thanks for your in put. Don

Re: Any idea what it might be worth?
have a look on boattrader to get an idea of what the competition is selling their boats for. Most of the older SeaCrafts that fetch high prices have had actual structural work done to them that makes them tempting (new 25" transom, raised floor, new fuel tank, etc). If you price it reasonably, it would likely sell relatively fast. However, there are several 20's on boattrader that have been there for many many months.

Re: Any idea what it might be worth?
I have an idea - It will make life so much easier for you. Why don't you keep your boat - she sounds like a beauty.
Come to where I live, I can put you up for as long as you like. I mean you're only in NJ. You can help me finish my restoration - or if you like, you can finish it for me. Then you can have the satisfaction of doing an excellent job and still have your beautiful boat. And, I will be prevented from slowly going insane, and be able to focus my attention on my new fiance, buying a house, having kids - all that silly stuff... It sounds like a win-win situation for both if us... I'll even throw in all the beer you need ?! Deal ? |

Re: Any idea what it might be worth?
Sounds like a plan to me. I do not eat much. But the beer! I like that so it may cost you a bit.
I have been watching Boat Trader but the prices are all over the board. Do you think I could get $12,000.00-$15,000.00 with the trailer? |

Re: Any idea what it might be worth?
Seacrete-
If you find that right buyer, you might be able to get 12-15K for the boat. However, considering that most of the work done has only been cosmetic in nature, it might be a little high. However, I could be wrong... Good luck with selling her. She looks nice in the photos. Ed |

Re: Any idea what it might be worth?
The motor and fuel tank condition would consern me. Without seeing it, you could ask $12,500, but $9,500 seems fair.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...

Re: Any idea what it might be worth?
Ask yourself what YOU would be willing to pay for it.
If you would be willing to pay $12-15K for a 25 year old 19'6" boat that had a wet 20" transom, original fuel tank, old engine, and a shiny new coat of paint along with some electronics, go for it... [ December 31, 2003, 09:12 AM: Message edited by: Mark ] |
