Need options details '71 Seafari 20 Cuddy

I'm the new proud owner of a 1971 Seafari 20' which has been completely restored as to finishes, hardware, wiring, tank, just about everything but using a rebuilt '87 Johnson 140 VRO for now.

Found a site that had for sale a magazine advertisement for the 1969 Seafari. From that, I learned that the original may have had two coolers, a working sink, an alcohol stove, and, as I've figured out, a porta-potti place. Also, it took a 47 gallon tank on the o/b version. (I learned that on the classicseacraft.com site.)

1. Does anyone maybe have any info or advice on how these options were configured into the original Seafari? Where was the water tank and sink, for example.

2. Secondly, we replaced the gummed-up gas tank with a custom-made one which supposedly just fits into the space available and appears to hold maybe 30 gallons. Here, I read that the o/b version should have room for a 47 gal. tank. Anybody have any help for me?

rsmg - im assuming you got the yellow one that was for sale in stuart, thats a great looking boat and i would love to see somemore pictures of it. i also have a 1970 seafari that i am in the process of completly redoing so i can answer your questions.

1. there was never a sink and stove in the cabin, theres just no room and with the center entry its not configured for it. however its a roomy cabin for a 20 footer.

2. i have the same gas tank delema, the last owner replaced the tank in 97 and the tank is still perfect, but it is only 30 gallons. i cant see the tank being any bigger (longer) with out inhibiting the bilge acess.

sounds like you got a great boat, its about time we got somemore 20' cuddys on the site, lets see some pics!

Thanks, Ben, for the prompt and helpful reply! Being new to this message board, I thought I'd just post a link which, with any luck at all, will take you to a few pics on "webshots.com" of the boat. In another post, I'll try to display a magazine ad that dates back to 1969, describing the Seafari and features on it.

This one was restored by a salty fellow from Port St. Lucie who lived on a yacht he had built for 22 years. He's a veterinarian and did a very fine job with this one which belonged to someone related to him. Stringers, everything seemed to be in fine shape. We did reinforce the transom a bit, just to be extra sure...

neat post rob, i had my eye on that boat for over a year, it was on boattrader forever, kept waiting to see the price go down. your pics show that it really was a good restore job. maybe i should have made the move when i had the chance. looks like a great rig.

Rsmg....I am also the owner of a 70's seafari 20.
I have the original spec sheets for the IO/OB configurations with diagrams showing placement of fuel hatches,rod racks,optional head etc. The 2nd sheet lists all the standard equipment. If you want a copy I'll fax it to you.
