Default Performance on a 20 i/o ???

Any thoughts on what type of performance I could expect for an original 20 i/o (It has the factory 140 i-4).

Default Re: Performance on a 20 i/o ???

Finz,
My rig is a 1975 20cc I/o. I bought the boat did minor repairs and took her out for a three hour tour last Labor day. I was not able to get all the RPMS 4500, due to the wrong pitched wheel. Still moved along right good, sorry no GPS at the time, I have to say about 25kts. The hole shot is pathetic with peple in the jump seats, once they moved forward the boat planed out nice.
The end of the three hour tour, rain , clogged fuel filters and a rotted oil pan, you may want to check yours out, the oil pan, if original.
Just replaced the transom and hope to finish the last of the glass work on the stringers today, install of new transom exit scuppers, then I move to reinstalling the cap I cut out to get at the transom.
All in all the boat is not going to be a real fast boat, but goes along quite well, and just sipps fuel at 3000-3200 rpm.
Just bout a new chartplotter for my big rig and may move my old old to the little rig, so hopefully this summer I will have better speed numbers, with the new prop.
