Hi guys,
Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on the possibility of putting twin 90 Fichts on either an armstrong or other flotation bracket on a 20' Master Angler. I want this 20' that is here but already have a 90' ficht - and can get its twin for cheap! Dont want a single = too risky here. Many thanks |

mkg you can hang the twins on there, there were 20 c.c."s factory rigged w/ twin 70hp. but you should consider the bracket and close the transom completely. The only problem is that it can get a little pricey

90 Fichts will weight a bit more than 70 carbed rudes from the 70s - one thing to consider. Item 2, the engines back then were flywheel rated and not propshaft so a 70 carb then was probably putting out 55-60 of todays HP... All that said a couple people have mentioned of a 20 with twin V6s somewhere in FL... - Twin 90s would go like a raped ape too,.,,

More than likely you will have to raise the transom by 5 inches if you go to twins. That will help keep some h2o out of the back. Hang them on then HANG ON!
PS. If you don't like the weight afterwords you can put a bracket on.

Thanks guys - i think i am going for the full flotation bracket and then with the twin fichts.
i will also cut out the well in the rear for some more space and enclose the transom if i dont get a hermco bracket i am assuming the larger the brachet the more flotation etc? Do the motors need to be counter rotating ? |

No other choice but counter rotating?
Can engines be modified to be counter rotating? |

CR will make things easier, but you could get away without it with a pair of 90's, you'd just have additional torque steer to deal with. I believe you can convert one of the engines to CR, but it involves changing the lower unit = $$.

Thanks guys
I am awaiting a response from Hermco on the max weight the 20 could take with their bracket - any idea of whether the Armstrong can handle the 2 90'? Many thanks |

mkg Im sure armstrong has a bracket that will handle the twins probably the hermco will too I dont know how many of the guys in here from s.fla remember but there was a 20 with twin merc2.5 motors down in the homestead /keys area a couple years ago. So as long as you make the neccesary transom modification you should be fine
