Default Actual 250 HPDI Performance Numbers

Just got the boat back and figured i would post the performance numbers since you all helped me make my decision. I origionaly had a 225 Honda and was less than excited about its performance. This is on a late model 23sc.

250 HPDI
Prop 19x15 Yamaha Saltwater Series
Cruise 3300 RPM, 30 MPH, 8.2 GPH
WOT 5100 RPM, 48 MPH, 20.7 GPH

ZUP-

You sure you have the right prop on that engine? Seems like your RPMS at WOT are very low.

Thanks for the advise.

The recommended range is 4500 to 5500. The engine makes max HP at 5000. I like to prop my boat just a few RPM higher than the Max hp otherwise I find that the few extra RPM's result in more fuel burn and very little additional speed as a result of a drop off in the torque curve. I have had good lock proping motors accordingly. I have a 2200v pathfinder with a 225 Yamaha OX66 I have i propped for a WOT RPM of 5200. (it is 4500-5500 as well) I have 900 and some odd hours without a glitch.

I am thinking about going with the 17, I just want to how she runs once she is broken in and fully loaded up. I will let you know.

Thanks

Zup,

Nice numbers. You may also pick up some RPM's by adjusting the motor up a hole or 2. As for wot, 5100 ain't bad, the motor is rated to turn 5500 max. Dropping to a 17 will slow your cruise by 3 or so knots. If the motor "feels" right, stick with it. If it comes out of the hole like a 3 legged basset hound, then change it.
