Saw this over the weekend
If anyone is interested I'll try to get the phone #. I do not have any details on the boat but if interested I will try to find them out. Almost ran off the road when this one caught my eye.

Re: Saw this over the weekend
Like I said if you need any details on the boat contact John R ... Thats too funny!!
I looked at the boat and it looks like a 2000 or so hull....the Boat is awesome and the craftsmanship is flawless ... does not look a year old no less 27 years old....I may have to suffer and take a closer look now |

Re: Saw this over the weekend
hehehe --- guess that's the one. I think I have a visual picture of every Seacraft photo add on the net - at least the volume sites . When you look at the other pics on that link, you can see a lot was done, including a current center console, looks OK but too small, personally I like the bigger consoles, contemporary or not.
The pics do look very sweet but the people completing these majors restorations, are they actually selling? I look at Trayder's pics and he is doing an incredibly detailed restore but he is doing it for himself and not to sell... Is there really that kind of market in 25K+ restored 20' Seacraft boats?

Re: Saw this over the weekend
Let me ask everyone a question. I know there'a a lot of factors involved but what is a fair asking price for a nice, well-restored mid 70's 20' Classic? Certainly the mid-20K range is out of the question.
I'm debating whether to buy a low dollar fixer-upper or paying the $$$ for one that has already had the work done on it. Is the mid-teens a fair asking price for a refurbished boat? [ October 29, 2002, 05:47 PM: Message edited by: swstandring ] |

Re: Saw this over the weekend
Sit down with a calculator and add up the cost of the items that are potentially in need of replacing on an early to mid-70's SeaCraft and you'll have your answer:
new transom new fuel tank new engine new steering new electronics new deck hardware new ground tackle new rub rail new or redone console new leaning post (if you want one at all) new trailer possibly new stringers and floor you get the idea. (Yes, I'm doing all of the above!) |

Re: Saw this over the weekend
If that boat comes with the engine at 15K - might be a steal. One site has it listed at 15 & change not mentioning motor and another has 20something thou and talks about the motor, a 01 or 02 Merc 200 Opti. I think. At 15K, fully restored & with a new motor, yeh it's a good deal. A new one equipped the same is going to run 30-33K plus, more in the northeast.

Re: Saw this over the weekend
Talked to the broker today and it does not come with the motor. Hmmm, $15,900 for the hull and then another approx. $10,000 for a motor.
Hate to say it but at that point I'd be willing to pay the extra few thousand and buy a new one. |

Re: Saw this over the weekend
Heck, I've seen new ones with t-top, double axle trailer with brakes, and a 150c go for $26.5k.
That one actually looks like a 21 footer, based on the transom-height storage in the aft corners. If that is the case then a new ones would go for @ $4k more. Anyone know for sure whether it is a classic 20 or a 21? |
