project difficulty rating chart
A while back there was talk of a set of links to suppliers and the like. A few were listed and hopefully people have gotten some use from it.
Another very helpful chart may be a "level of difficulty chart" based on how much embibing a given project entails. Just today I have read of projects requiring "2 kegs", "guidance from Jose Cuervo" , and the ever-present X number of Buds to get the job rolling. SO, how about some thoughts on: complete transom redo - rubrail replacement - bracket installation - new deck - hydraulic steering installation - I KNOW a few of you have valuable opinions on this |

Re: project difficulty rating chart
Here's mine from recent personal experience:
1. Re-coring the 7' long fuel cell panel - 3 six packs. 2. Removing 133 gallon fuel cell, foamed in, soaked with water and gasoline, frozen solid at 20 degrees F - 1 bottle Captain Morgan 3. Sanding 12 years of bottom paint off a 23 - 4 six packs. 4. Wet sanding and wet sanding and polishing and waxing the new paint job inside and out in 1 day - 2 six packs Mountain Dew and 1 bottle SPF 30.

Re: project difficulty rating chart
Hmmm....
I've heard of rum & coke, gin & tonic, and vodka & orange juice, but sunscreen and mountain dew is a new one on me... |

All I have to do is look at my boat and I get thirsty.

Re: project difficulty rating chart
Don,
I think you're working too cheap. Minimum wage on a SeaCraft is more than that. CSC Union Local 23 rules.

Re: project difficulty rating chart
Mark.. this is the going rate for all of the work I do on my Sea Craft.. Figure 1 beer per square ft of work- flat rate. Glass work is higher at 2 per linear foot of glass... ie.. Rewire dash panel- panel is 16"x8" = 1.6 beers, but don't forget to add in the wire...

Re: project difficulty rating chart
This formula idea can and does put the FUN back in project boat building. My problem was that I under estimated the Bud factor and many of my projects were just OK not FUN. If I ever do another boat I will X 2 on the Bud factor and I should be in the ball park.
