Check out this Scam!!!
I have a few minutes this AM and went searching for a car on Autotrader.com ( I need a new car like I do another SeaCraft but we all like to see what avail...right ) Anyhow...I find a deal on a late model SUV and send the seller an email asking for more info...about the SUV itself not about imeadiatly buying it and this is the reply I get a few hours later...notice the email does not address me or any question about the SUV.....
Thank you for your interest in purchasing my car. First of all I must inform you that currently I'm in Holland ( The Netherlands ) and I have to let you know that the car is here with me and it is in a perfect condition. The problem is that I had to move with my family here in Amsterdam , Holland ( at my parents ) . I brought the car here with me with the intention of driving it but when I found out about the very high Holland import duties I have made up my mind and decided to sell the vehicle back to the USA. The car it's absolutely perfect , no mechanical problems , have all original manuals & documents , it has a clear title , one original owner, never been repaired , never been involved in any type of accident or had any paint or body work done! The paint looks just as new because was always garaged. As for the options, the car is fully loaded. In order for me to start the shipping procedure , I need a confirmation for 10% of the amount of money (USD 3200) . The payment method is by using a money order service. I prefer money order because in this way I will ship the in maximum 48 hours after you make the 10% down payment. During the time I learned that the best deals are closed when the risk involved is minimum. You will have to arrange payment through Western Union (www.WesternUnion.com). I have something safe for you because I want you to be sure that you will receive the car and I hope we will collaborate in future too. Let me explain you how to make the Western Union transfer for the 10% safe and easy : - You will have to make the transfer to my location here in Holland but not to my name (you will chose a different name than mine , for example you can use your best friends name as receiver's ) so you can be sure that I will not pick up the money until you get the car. - After the deposit by Western Union is done, you will give me the following transfer's details ( #MTCN, SENDER'S NAME, RECEIVER'S NAME that you have used to be the receiver ) so I can check using the Western Union web page if the funds are available After I verify the transfer and everything is OK , I will ship the car in maximum 48 hours . I can also ship you the car sooner than 48 hours but this will depends of the cargo flights available for your location. I will ship the car via Lufthansa Airplane Cargo insured and it will take 72 hours until you will have it at your door steps . I think it is better to not inform Western Union that you will change the receiver's name in a few days because it is possible that they ask you to pay the fees twice (fees that are quite big for such an amount). When you will go to the Western Union office to wire the money , sometimes they ask you for what the money are sent . If you will tell them that the funds are sent for something you have bought, I will have to pay a very expensive tax for marketing commerce ( when I will pick up the money after the car is yours ) . Please say you send the money a friend or to your partner. The 10% of payment are fully refundable. When I will arrive with car at your place and you will decide not to buy it ( after the inspection period ends ) , you will cash the money back from Western Union and I will remain in USA until I sell it to another person (hope that it will not be necessary) . Here is my name and address you need for the Western Union transfer: First Name: Mark Last Name: Donker Address: Van Hilligaertstraat 835 ( street ) City: Amsterdam Postal Code (ZIP): 1072 JX Country: Holland ( The Netherlands ) If you agree with these terms, let me know and I will be more than glad to start to complete the transaction with you. I hope that you will have the pleasure to drive this car! Thank you ! Mark van Donker . PS: The shipping fees including the insurance are included in the selling price hmmmmmmmmmmmm sure I'll meet him at the airport as he drives the car off the plane................. |

Re: Check out this Scam!!!
A few months ago when I was interested in buying an atv, I came across a similiar scam. There was an ad for an atv half the price of all the others, the only problem was it was located in Europe. I checked it out and e-mailed the seller and he contacted me with all this b.s. and said there was no worry he would ship it via dhl and they would contact me when they recieve the package. Then I would pay him without seeing what was in the package and recieve the package probably a bunch of old books or something. I ask around and found that the maker of the atvs price locked them and that was an imposible price.

Re: Check out this Scam!!!
sounds like another one of those Nigerian Ministry of Mining things that we all got a while back. Maybe the local dealer down the street isn't such a bad idea after all -

Re: Check out this Scam!!!
It's cheaper to ship them by ship but it takes months. I couldn't imagine what air freight could cost on a car. And when it arrives at customs and you find out ho much you own on the import tax and duty's, not to mention registration and title you'll crap yourself silly.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot. You would need to hire a customs broker aswell.

Re: Check out this Scam!!!
One of our local police officers here was trying to sell his boat on one of the internet sites and was contacted by a scam group in another country. they wanted him to send them about $8,000 as I remember and they would send him....yada yada yada... As I remember, they stated they would pay him more than he was asking for the boat. He obviously didn't bite and attempted an investigation, but got nowhere really as these people operate in cyberspace and cover their tracks pretty well.
It's a shame, but people get taken by these scembags everyday.... -Hooper |
