Awesome Awesome ad/picture of a running Bertram 630 on page 10 or 12 in the March issue ……Water covering up the tower ….. Then they do a write up on the boat ….. claim a 37 knot CRUISE [img]/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img] (somewhere around 175 GPH) although throughout the test ran her between 25-30 kts…… a pair of 2,000hp V16 motors , 2 - 23kW gensets, 1,849 gal in fuel and a base price of $2,470,000

And pretty pretty lines to boot !!!!

Right next to the 63 write up is the Jarrett Bay 70 ….. but that will cost you …..$3,600,000 base [img]/images/graemlins/crazy.gif[/img] she dont look to shabby either !!!

Go to the 44' 1995 Garlington. I fished on this boat this year. It was custom built by Garlington himself. The only 44' around!. Great day boat, air controls top of line electronics etc., all for 500K! The Texaco station where that 630 pulls in for a fill-up has got to be thrilled! I took a peak at it on the Bertram website and must say that I would be lined up to buy one myself but I don't have any shiny gold 130's to stick in the rod holders while it sits at the dock for the onlookers. Oh well...

The picture of the 63 blowing through a wave in the magazine was what started it ....then I saw the write up ....To tell you the truth when Bertram changed things up a few years back I was disappointed (like I would ever need to worry about that) I just didn’t care for the euro look they were giving the boats (Hatteras too) .... but the larger stuff does look nice .... As far as production boats go ... Viking still has my heart ....they are class machines

Scott: I think for some reason the lines and proportions of the Vike 61' are unmatched, even by the other Vikes with similar lines. I see Bert really smoothed out the sheer line and got away from the "euro" look as you note...I don't like that hard angle drop-off on the sheer line of the Hatts and Berts combined with the "euro" look. That new 63' is a honey though.

I went on that boat in the pic at the St Peterburg boat show. It's all that!!! the most amazing feature is the absence of a ladder up to the bridge. It has a concealed molded in sprial staircase. I can asssure you that the other big gunns in this market will soon follow this innovation. The single biggest complaint I get in selling new sportfishes is that people don't like the ladders and want steps. Beautiful interior and woodwork as well.

Its funny how things change ...from having no dedicated ladder to the bridge ( climbing up the side of the "house" or up the tower leg) to spiral staircases....

I guess the amount of room the stairs take up really doesn’t create space problems on something this big [img]/images/graemlins/smirk.gif[/img]
