Re: Hydra Jack Plate
I put one on my 73 20' to be able to use a 25" shaft. It worked fine. I used the Bob's machine jack plate which had the smallest setback and the highest adjustment. Myold jack did not adjust and my motor was too deep and did not perform properly.

Re: Hydra Jack Plate
Nomocrap, I'm facing the same situation on my 20' CC. In the past week i've changed my mind from glassing off the back w/ a new bracket, to raising the transom 5", to now considering a simple jack plate to be able to lift a 25-incher high enough. This solution would probably be fine except for the remaining problem of possibly taking a wave over the back. Does anyone have ideas on fabricating a removable transom notch cover-plate?(So I could tilt her up when necessary) Any experiences/photos would be appreciated!! What a great site! |

Re: Hydra Jack Plate
I made this out of 3/4 inch Seaboard. It seems to work pretty well. I could add a piano hinge and amother section if I find it necessary.

Re: Hydra Jack Plate
I have a jackplate on my '76 20 cc right now. I bought the boat a couple of months ago without a motor so I haven't run it yet as I'm planning on raising the transom to 25". The guy I bought the boat from bolted a large alluminium plate on the back of the transom which effectively raised the transom about 5 inches or so. Then he mounted the jack plate to the transom/aluminium plate. All this said and I still cant tell you how the boat ran. If your interested in an adjustable jack plate for cheap, let me know. I will be pulling apart the transom very soon.

Re: Hydra Jack Plate
Hey Will,
Do you still have that jackplate available? I am looking to pick one up. Can you give me any details on the make, set back, vert lift, etc? Thanks Scot
