line?

Thanks, Hammer

I put mine right up against the transom cap and bolted it thru into the engine well. Just make sure your placement (port or starboard side) the steps clear the engine shaft at full turn. As you can see, this puts the stop step under the waterline

Of course I'll be dumping mine when I enclose the transom with the Potter Bracket this year.

I'll be using it during the summer If I decide to install a new "Potter" ladder on the bracket, I will then sell the Armstrong deal in October. .

Hammer, I mounted one higher up on the transome. Obove where the trim tabs would be. I bolted through the transome and backed it up with a plate of 1/4 Aluminum. It works great and you can walk right up it even with your tank on. I used the 3 inch mount and wedge to get the correct angle and clearance for your feet. I forget the brand name but I bought at Boat US on sale a couple of years ago for like $130.00 and it floats. I have a Scepter and a raised transome. I step right on to the hatch to the Battery compartment and stay out of the motor well and grease. I wouldnt be without it after suffering for years with decks and platforms. Scotty.

Hi Chuck....Not so fast.....mount the ladder on the bracket. Armstrong makes a bracket that mounts flat on the swim platform and hangs over the edge. The ladder bracket attaches to the platform bracket. I don't like the fold under ladder handling my weight (not insignificant!) plus gear.

Hey come by when you are down this way. Floor is in, transom covered, console up there and paint to start soon!!

Got a few questions to ask you. Do you have trim tabs on your boat, and if you do how much clearance do you have from the ladder to the end of the trim tab??

Bill

I have seen them. I also saw what Lt Dan (chainsaw) did on his. He "notched" the engine bracket to the exact size and used the standard Armstrong ladder bracket. That way it did not stick out past the edge. It looked very professional Now on the other hand, the Potter ladder folds up under the bracket and also serves as a safety issue. Mr. Potter told me a story of a guy, who fell off his boat in rough seas and was unable to climb back on board Had he had the Potter ladder he could have swam to the back of the boat and pulled the ladder out from it's folded position and climbed back onboard Makes sense, as my Armstrong ladder is stored in the forward hatch when not in use. I would think that the Potter deal would surely accommodate a large person such as yourself

BTW: I'm going to try to make it down your way in a couple of weeks cause I need to go to Bass Pro. I'll give you a shout

Fellow-Ship, no tabs on this boat , but i think the ladder would clear as it is spaced out from the hull quite a bit. Also they make them in 2,3,or 4 step models you could measure what you need and set it up. I had a system onn my last boat (Wellcraft Sportsman) that i used the cav. plate on the O.B. as the 1st step and that worked well. Scotty.

Bill let me know when the boat is painted. I may repaint the whole thin also. Is your guy who was doing the work on it that day going to paint it also?
