Molded footrest

Strick....Didn’t you fabricate one to go inside the console opening ??

If you did ...(or anyone) how’s it working out ...and did you lose a lot of room inside the console?

If you have some pictures could we see them ??

Hi Scott-

Sorry I must have over looked this thread yesterday. Yes I made a foot rest for the front of the consel. I dont have any close up's of the finished deal but I will try and take some today when I go out to my property were the boat is stored. Here are a few pics of the mold's I made to do that. I wanted to make as much room as possible for my leaning post and when I found that my toes would touch the teak doors of the CC I decided to make some toe extra toe space and a foot rest for when you are under way. I made two easy molds for this and then glassed them to the consel. I plan on putting in a small door above the foot rest to get into the consel from that area but have not done that yet. Here are a few pics. Anyone know were there is a 20 seafari on the west coast? [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Here you can barely see the finished part. My feet fit under the foot rest giving me another 6 inches of foot room.

Ok heres a few more pics that I took this afternoon. I also included a pic of the toe space that I added to the sides of the consel so when you are standing by the consel your toes dont hit it. As far as taking up space it really does not take up much space inside the consel....you just have to reconfigure the inside....There is one old shot of the inside of the consel before I finished it. I forgot to get a pic of the inside when I was there today but the batteries still sit up flush to the foot rest on the hatch.

Stick, thats a good idea. Did you do everything in epoxy? I see the jugs in one pic and the green polyester tint on the one piece in the other. And what did you do for your anchor locker bulkhead? leave it out? Mine is missing as well and know that the top cap needs to be off to replace it in one piece.

I'm in the process of replacing the console access door on my 23. This is the only access into my console. I like the idea of the footrest. Any thoughts relative to how I could incorporate the footrest into the door frame? Dink

I like the idea of having that room for your feet under the rest...It helps a lot when running (more comfortable when against the leaning post)... I've recently been out on a few that don’t have that space ... and it would be nice if they did. With our style consoles access from the aft side of the console isn’t necessary anyhow(as long as that bulkhead inside the console is removable) Your could put a door up there with a tackle cabinet (those plano style tackle lockers) 2 or 3 drawer…There are nicer than this ..but you get the idea

Dink ... You could do it just like strick then put an opening above it ... It would also depend on if you want just that foot space on the deck or if you wanted that foot space plus the foot rest above. I would think you could do it as strick did but mold it with a lip or flange, so its bigger than the opening, that would allow you to screw the footrest insert into the console opening ...That way if you had to you could remove it to get more space or room in and out of the console.

Finster- Everything was done in epoxy. For the anchor locker I used starboard. It came out pretty good. I did not have to remove the top cap. It took some trimming and pushing but I was able to get it in place. The trick was to use 1/4 inch so I was able to bend it into place. I'll get some pics up here of that.

Dink- I'm not sure how you would put it together but as Scott said access from the front side of the consel is not really necessary when you can go into it from the front door. You can just make something simular to what i've shown or you can probably make a new door out of starboard hinged in the middle with the foot rest on the bottom.

Not really ... I know someone who is looking into having them mold some custom deck hatches. He seems pleased with the interaction to date.

It's my impression that you could give them the dimensions of the opening in the console and they could make it how you want ...

Might be worth contacting them to see if its possible
