1999 225 SUZUKI EFI Problem
Put the boat in today, motors not running right. I can't
get it past idle in gear , it will stall. I can get it to rev up a little in neutral, but at some point it wants to bog back down. It ran fine till the middle of December, put some stabilizer in the fuel and fogged the motor at the end of December. Put a new Racor in this spring, I also looked at the filter under the cowling and looked fine. I also unhooked the fuel line at the motor and primed the bulb and seemed normal. The only three things that come to mind are varnish/gum in the EFI system(Maybe I didnt give the stabilizer enough time to run into the motor),but never had a problem before and varishing usually takes more than 5 months to happen. The second thing is electrical, maybe the stator is bad? I had a similar problem with a 175 Merc, but not quite the same. The last thing is the fuel pump?? I think Scott from Viking will be of help here, but looking for other input. Rodney |

Re: 1999 225 SUZUKI EFI Problem
Hey Chris-
Definitely talk to Scott. He has religiously serviced my 225 Suzuki the last couple of years and it runs well. If I had to guess, I would check the following: 1) Trash filter 2) Fuel pumps! The screws holding mine down had worked themselves loose over the years and they just about fell off. If they are loose and you are sucking in air....it might cause a stall. 3) The other thing that comes to mind is the Racor filter. Is it the same as the last one you used?? Ed |
